NFL: Dwayne Haskins, 1997-2022, has died at the age of 24. Dwayne Haskins was hit by a car on the side of the highway, while checking his own car, in South Florida. Haskins was on the Pittsburgh Steelers squad and Washington football team. and was an Ohio State standout. He was the 15th overall pick in the 2019 draft. 

MLB: Red Sox lost to the Yankees 6-5 

White Sox beat the Tigers 5-4

Athletics fell to the Phillies 9-5 

The Orioles got beaten by the Rays 2-1 

Mariners defeat the Twins 2-1

NASCAR Cup Series: Blue-Emo Maximum Pain Relief 400 at the Martinsville Speedway. The race is on Saturday April 9, at 7:30pm 

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series: Pinty’s Truck Race on Dirt is April 16, at the Bristol Motor Speedway. Flag drops at 6pm. 

Varsity Boys Baseball: Whiteville beat Pender 15-0 in 4 innings. Ashton Hammonds pitched a no-hitter throughout the four innings, but he did hit a batter in the fourth, ending the perfect game. Sam Inman hit a 2-RBI in the park homerun. Inman lined the ball over the center fielder’s head taking the ball to the fence. Sam Inman was rounding second base before the ball was even picked up, he rounded third on the throw in from the outfield and dove headfirst as he beat the throw.
