Ashley Gore was appointed today to fill out the term of retiring Chief Resident Superior Court Judge Douglas Sasser.
Gore’s appointment was announced today by Gov. Roy Cooper.
“Judge Gore brings over a decade of legal knowledge and experience to the Superior Court bench,” said Cooper in. a press release. “I’m confident that she will continue her strong service in this new role.”
Gore is currently a District Court Judge in Judicial District 13, on the bench on Brunswick, Bladen and Columbus counties. Her new role shifts her responsibilities to Judicial District 13A, serving Bladen and Columbus counties.
She has served as Assistant District Attorney for the 15th Prosecutorial District and was an Associate Attorney at Gore Law Firm, under her uncle, retired Resident Superior Court Judge William “Bill” Gore.
Gore earned her Bachelor of Arts from UNC Chapel Hill and her Juris Doctorate from Campbell University Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law.
Gore is a military veteran and an avid runner, participating in the Kevin Conner Memorial Run every year.
Sasser announced his retirement earlier this year after more than 20 years on the bench. He was honored Thursday at a dinner at Bummin Hole Lodge near Whiteville.
