The sheriff’s office has identified the dead man found in Dothan on Friday.
The body of Carl Dean Lewis, 53, was found in a vacant lot off Dothan Road, Sheriff Bill Rogers said. Deputies were dispatched to the area after a 911 call reporting a body.
Deputies had to search a wide area find the exact location, which is three miles from N.C. 904.
Lewis had a Loris address, Rogers said. There was not a missing person’s report filed about him, although there are reports on two other men from that area.
The body was badly decomposed, and an autopsy will be performed to determine a cause of death.
