February 3, 1931 ~ April 3, 2024 (age 93)
Coy Marshall Long, Sr. 93, of Whiteville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center in Whiteville, NC.
Coy was born on February 3, 1931, in Brunswick County to the late Marshall Long and Otance Simmons Long. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Allen McKeel Long, and siblings, Wilmer Long and Cornelia Ross.
A memorial graveside service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at Whiteville Memorial Cemetery.
In the early 1950s, Coy began working as a commercial installer at Luther Meares Glass, he spent a few years with Combine Insurance before joining the Lowe’s of Whiteville team in 1971. He spent 25 years in contract sales for Lowe’s until his retirement in 1996. In his free time Coy enjoyed working with WVCB Radio in Shallotte, especially airing the Sunday morning Gospel Show for over ten years. Coy was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Whiteville.
Mr. Long leaves behind his two sons; Reverend Coy Long, Jr. and wife, Peggy of Whiteville and Warren S. Long and wife, Kari of Mt. Pleasant, SC; a daughter, Elizabeth G. Long of Bellingham, WA; sister, Marie Tutor of Raleigh; six grandchildren, Coy Long, III, Kristen Thompson, Breyanna Geiser, Brittany OBrien, Katarina Long and Jessica Storm; seven great-grandchildren, Aedin Doorn, Emily Geiser, Cora Geiser, Maeve O’Brian, Jack O’Brian, Arya Amidon, and Ophelia Long.
