Mr. Sherman Campbell, 62, of the St. James Community of Lake Waccamaw, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024, in the Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.
Sherman was born on April 30, 1962, the son of Junior Lee Campbell and Nancy Janice Mitchell Campbell. He was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Sherman was a 1981 graduate of Hallsboro High school, then went on to attend Cape Fear Community College, where he obtained an associate degree in Machinist Technology. He later went on start Campbell’s Transmission. He started his business from the ground and built it up to today’s shop.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Worthington Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the St. James Memorial Cemetery.
The family will speak to friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
The surviving family includes a son, Justin Campbell of Lake Waccamaw; siblings, Priscilla Jacobs (Kenny Ray) of Lake Waccamaw, Marcus Spaulding of Lake Waccamaw, Christopher Campbell (Evie) of Fayetteville, GA, Jennifer Campbell of Lake Waccamaw, and Jacqueline Campbell-Batten (Gregory) of Chadbourn; special friends, Greogry Spaulding, Archie Murphy, Gary Rose, Michael Chavis, Demeatrius Beattie, Mike Simmons, Natalie Rickman, Dean Spaulding. He also leaves behind a host of special nieces and nephews.
