Whiteville: Jerry Lenwood Carter, 86 of Whiteville died Thursday, July 25,2024 at the Columbus Regional Healthcare in Whiteville. He was the son of the late A.G. Carter, Jr. and Aline Ward Carter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son; Jerry Lamont “Monty” Carter and a brother; Armond David Carter, two Lovely wives, Annette Inman Carter and Dorothy R. Carter.
Surviving are his daughter, Drenda C. Ellis and husband Keith of Sandston, Virginia, brother; Buster Carter and wife Genie Carter of Whiteville, N.C.and a Sister; Donna Rich and husband; Ed Rich of Inman, S.C. Nephews; Chris Carter, David Carter, Nieces; Amy Caldwell, Molly Rich and Kate Carter Lee.
He was a life-long member of First Baptist Church in Whiteville and a faithful member of the John the Baptist Sunday School Class and a Past Member of the Lion’s Club. He also served in the National Guard.
His life long career was in the construction industry. He was blessed with “Raw Talent” working with his hands. Not only a talented craftsman, but also a skilled builder, and very meticulous about his work. He loved the Lord and was a good provider for his family. He worked with his father in the family construction business, at A.G. Carter, Jr Inc. Afterwards he moved to start his own business, Jerry Carter and Son, Inc. Then later he continued his career with Pridgen Woodwork in Whiteville.
Funeral Service will be Sunday, July 28,2024 at 3: 00 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Hillman officiating with a private burial following. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. in the church fellowship hall prior to the service.
