Wow! Where did our summertime go? All of our area kids are back in school. We hope they stay safe and have the best year. Our youth are our future, so let’s encourage them every step of the way as they learn and prepare to lead.
In Remembrance of 9/11, the second Annual Heroes Cruise-in and Parade will take place on Saturday, Sept. 14.
All first responders—Fire, EMS, law enforcement, correction and probation officers, etc. are invited to participate. We would also love to have dispatchers, U.S. veterans, and owners of classic cars, trucks, and motorcycles participate. We appreciate all of you.
Please join us at 4 p.m. on Sept. 14. We would like everyone to cruise on in and park your vehicles and display them in the designated areas along Main Street for all to see. Kids, especially, love being able to touch a fire truck, police car, etc.
At 7 p.m., we ask that everyone participating prepare to line up to ride through the Hometown Heroes Parade with lights on and sirens blaring. Our goal is for this to grow to a statewide event. May we never forget 9/11/01.
Also on that day, we will have an inaugural BBQ Cookoff. Our area has some amazing cooks, grill masters, and chefs extraordinaire. If you love to prepare BBQ on the grill/cooker, please plan to enter. Give Chairperson Justin Suggs a call today. Only $100 per team to enter. He will provide you with all of the rules and guidelines. Winners will take home some cash. Get your team registered by calling Justin at 910.640.7318.
