World Singing Day Welcomes Voices Oct. 19

An international event celebrating group singing is coming to Lake Waccamaw, and more voices are welcome.

World Singing Day is held annually on the third Saturday of October. The event celebrates the “powerful benefits” of casual group music, even without rehearsal. The impromptu chorus will receive lyric sheets to “We Are The World” and “Until The Whole World Sings” just before the concert. Other songs will be added along the way, and singalong requests will be welcome.

World Singing Day will take place in 24 nations this year, with 42 events in America. Lake Waccamaw is currently the only registered host for a sing in the state.

Participants should be at the Depot Museum at Lake Waccamaw at 11 a.m., ready to sing. The program is expected to last about 45 minutes, and members of the Depot Jam Session will accompany the singers.
