Weather Update – Friday November 8th, 2024

Good evening, Meteorologist Christopher Cawley here with tonight’s update, for Friday November 8, 2024.

We have a mainly dry weekend on tap as high pressure briefly takes control. Saturday will be quite a bit cooler than Friday with highs right around 70 under a mostly sunny sky. This is still a few degrees above seasonal norms (which should be in the upper 60s). Sunday should be dry for the most part, with gradually increasing clouds and a southwest wind flow. I did put a 20% in for the slight chance for showers late in the afternoon. Showers are a good bet Sunday night and Veterans Day ahead of the next cold front, which should cruise through during the day Monday. Dry high pressure then takes charge for the middle part of next week with temperatures slightly above normal.

Tropics: The hot mess that is Hurricane Rafael continues in the Gulf. Rafael is gradually losing strength and organization, the convective pattern has become ragged, and the wind shear and dry air are suffocating the storm’s core. This increased shear and dry air will continue to weaken Rafael and modeling suggests the storm will be nothing more than a remnant low in the southern Gulf within 3-5 days.

That’ll do it for tonight’s update.  I hope yall have a fantastic weekend and, as always, take care!
