Jones Elected Majority Leader

Rep. Brenden Jones of Tabor City was elected Majority Leader of the state house today (Tuesday) by an overwhelming majority of his colleagues.

“This vote of confidence means so much to me, and I am both excited and ready to begin this new role,” Jones said in a press release. “As Majority Leader, I am committed to fostering collaboration, strengthening our unity, and ensuring that we move forward with purpose and vision. Together, we will continue to build on our successes and work to
make a positive impact for the people we serve.

“I am truly honored and humbled to have earned the trust of my colleagues.”

Also elected Tuesday morning, were Rep Destin Hall (R-Caldwell) as Speaker of the House, and
Rep. Steve Tyson (R-Craven) as Deputy Majority Leader.

As Majority Leader Jones said he will focus on advancing policies that prioritize strong conservative beliefs, fostering an inclusive and productive working environment, and
driving legislative efforts that benefit the community. He has been a strong voice for fiscal accountabilty in government, especially in regards to hurricane and disaster relief.

“I am eager to roll up my sleeves and work closely with each of my colleagues, as well as with the public, to ensure that we remain on a path of growth, opportunity, and meaningful change,” Jones said. “We are entering a new era, and together, we will continue to make strides toward a brighter future for all.”

Jones was unopposed for reelection this year. He is currently serving his fourth two-year term in the state house.
