CCN News Briefs for November 19, 2024

The National Weather Service has released its winter outlook for North Carolina, and it’s not good unless you’re a mosquito. The extended forecast calls for a warm, unusually dry winter throughout the southeast. The strengthening La Nina cycle could lead to drought conditions by next spring.

The Whiteville Police Department is asking if there were anyone in the area of 1000 block of S. Franklin Street that witnessed a motor vehicle collision on November 9, 2024, between the time of 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., please contact Lt. Thomas Riggins or Officer M. Cruz 910-642-5111.

Traffic on U.S. 74 was tangled Monday night and again Tuesday morning due to major collisions. A logging truck and armored car struck several vehicles near Chadbourn Monday evening just before 6:00 p.m. Three people were seriously hurt in that crash. Another wreck near Delco Tuesday slowed traffic for more than an hour. We have reached out to the Highway Patrol for more details.
