A Southeastern Community College student sustained an accidental gunshot wound Wednesday when a firearm fell from the student’s vehicle.
Lake Waccamaw Community Christmas Tree lighting is Friday at 6 p.m with the Christmas Parade Saturday at 10 a.m.
Saturday is the Holiday Extravaganza in Whiteville. The parade will be at 6 p.m., followed by the lighting of the Christmas Tree at Vineland Station, carriage rides, a Kids Zone, pictures with Santa, food trucks, and music from the Edgewood Chorus.
Chadbourn Christmas parade is Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
A structure fire on Moneyhole Road started from a space heater, but rekindled in what officials consider to be suspicious circumstances. No one was injured in the pre-dawn fire. It was the second space heater fire in Acme Delco Riegelwood’s district in less than 24 hours. Both homes were destroyed.
An alleged murderer and two other inmates have been charged with planning to murder a law enforcement officer and effect a jailbreak.
