The House Oversight Committee on Thursday continued hearings from state leaders who must provide what they do, how they do it, and how they measure their success. Critics have accused the General Assembly of pushing the “DOGE” technique that President Donald Trump is using to cut the size of the federal government and save tax dollars.
Transportation commissioner Wayne Goodwin announced just before he took the stand that he is resigning at the end of his term. Rep. Brenden Jones said that Goodwin’s DMV was “one of the most dysfunctional agencies in state government.” Most of the legislators at the hearing said they have received phone calls, emails and even personal visits from frustrated DMV customers.
