Charges are pending after a man died in a structure fire in Nakina early Sunday. Wendel Clyde Smith, 75, was found in the remains of the burned home. Christopher John Heimnick, age 28, is being held under no bond on arson and domestic violence charges.
Darius Washington’s murder trial started its fourth week Monday. Washington was charged with first degree murder in the 2019 killings of Alexis Trujillo, Nancy Trujillo, and Rafael Jaramillo on Brittany Lane.
If you plan to drive drunk this week, you better have the luck of the Irish. State and local law enforcement are stepping up efforts for the Saint Patrick’s Day Booze it and Lose it campaign. The anti-drunk driving campaign kicked off today and runs through next Monday. Last year, law enforcement made 784 Driving While Impaired arrests during the same period. Of those 71 were underage.
