Hallsboro Volunteer Firefighters and the N.C. Forest Service were busy yesterday stomping out a brush fire on Dismal Road. It was extinguished quickly before it spread.
Please remember that a Statewide Ban on all Open Burning remains in effect. The ban on all open burning was issued statewide. All burning permits have been canceled. No new permits are being issued at this time. The ban remains in effect until further notice. On Tuesday, March 26, Governor Josh Stein declared a State of Emergency to expand the state’s capacity to respond to the wildfires burning in Western North Carolina.
