Rev. John Shirden 83, of the Cedar Grove Community of Whiteville, NC gave the Lord his hand on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at his residence and entered into eternity. He was the husband of Mrs. Shirley McKenzie Shirden, and the son of the late Deacon William and Mrs. Louise Shirden of Whiteville, NC.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 12:00 pm (Noon) from Turner Station A.M.E. Church, 3155 Olivet Church Road, Marietta, NC, with Pastor, Rev. Dewey C. Farmer, Jr. eulogizing. Burial will be in The George Cemetery, Whiteville, NC.
Rev. Shirden is survived by his wife: Mrs. Shirley M. Shirden, daughters: Angela S. Farmer (Rev. Dewey), Lisa Shirden, Annie Johnson (Russell), Carolyn Toniolo (Bob), Shawan Ambrose, one Godson: Julian McKoy, sisters: Linda McKenzie and Eva Thompson, a host of grandchildren, great grands, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
A viewing will be held at the church on Thursday, one hour prior to the service, and following the service.
