Tabor Talk for April 16

By Cynthia Nelson

The Fifth Annual Spring Has Sprung Festival was again successful.  Each year has brought growth.

While the number of vendors only slightly increased this year, the car show experienced more growth as did the parade.

A crowd favorite, Flimsy the Clown, was the highlight of the KidZone.  He even added a performance at the entertainment stage this year.

Speaking of entertainment, we try to keep it local and keep it fresh.  Our area has lots of talented folks that deserve to be in the spotlight.  We are open to receiving referrals of new talent, so give us a call or drop us an email.  Our contact information is at the end of this column.

We would love to have more vendors set up to sell their flowers, plants, and produce.  Please help us spread the word about that.

A huge thank you goes to each sponsor who generously contributed to ensure this festival’s success. We are already taking notes on ways to improve and build upon what the Spring Has Sprung Festival offers.

Save the date of Saturday, April 4, 2026 for the Sixth Annual Spring Has Sprung Festival.  We look forward to it being even bigger and better!  With your help, it will happen.

The Easter Egg Hunt was held this past Saturday, April 12 at Tabor City School.   What a grand turnout from our community.

Please know that the Tabor City Community Egg Hunt is sponsored by the Columbus County Parks and Recreation.  We are blessed that they continue to ask us to be a partner by serving as the volunteer bunny for Tabor City.

Our resident “Easter Bunny” does a phenomenal job with the kids.  The parents love that photo opportunity.

The next chamber event is the annual Bass Tournament at Lake Tabor.  This event usually brings folks in from five of our neighboring counties. We have always had a great number of participants.  We believe Lake Tabor is a beautiful asset to our community and this event brings in people to see it and leave with a wonderful experience to share. Some lucky fishermen will leave with extra cash from the awards, too.

Save the date of Thursday, July 3 for the Columbus County Fireworks Celebration! Plan to join us as we “Let Freedom Ring” at South Columbus High School.  Gates will open at 6 p.m.

More information on the fireworks to come.

Should you desire to join our membership and support our community efforts, please contact us at 910.377.3012 or 910.840.0292.  We would love to hear from you and help promote you, your business, or organization.

The Greater Tabor City Chamber of Commerce loves to serve our membership and the Tabor City community as much as we possibly can. We welcome new ideas of events or ways to promote our members and our community.  Please contact us at 910.377.3012 or tccofc@yahoo.com.

We look forward to serving you.  Regular office days and hours of operation are  Tuesday -Thursday, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
