Keith Douglas Wilkins Jr. of Delco took an Alford plea on charges of indecent liberties Thursday in Columbus County Superior court. Wilkins molested a 13 year old girl spending the night with his daughter in 2019. He received a 13 to 25 month suspended sentence, will be on supervised probation, and must register as a sex offender for 10 years.
Tabor City police are cracking down on squatted trucks. Major C.G. Hilburn this week sent a memo to all TCPD officers reminding them about the state’s law against squatted trucks. Drivers could see tickets or even have their vehicles towed for safety issues. North and South Carolina banned trucks with more than four inches of height difference between the front and rear fenders due to braking, visibility and headlight safety issues.
Fentanyl continues to be an exploding problem in North Carolina. Governor Josh Stein on Thursday announced that he is seeking state funding for a fentanyl control unit to focus on the crisis. The task force would be comprised of law enforcement and prosecutors targeting the flow and sale of the illegal drug.
