Haynes Wesley Young, age 100, of Sebastian, FL (formerly of Hallsboro, NC) passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025. Haynes was born on July 12, 1924 to the late Wiley Young and Carrie Stephens Young. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his spouses; Edna Strickland Young (1/21/1998) and Dorothy Vernaccini Young (3/11/2017) and his sisters; Elva Koutnik and Dorothy McNeilly.
Haynes graduated from Hallsboro High School. He worked for years as a sharecropper in Hallsboro before working as an auto mechanic. He eventually moved to Miami, FL in 1957. In his retirement his joy was fishing and gardening.
Left to cherish his memory are his son; Robert Young and wife; Grace Seymour Young of Roanoke, TX, grandsons; Jonathan Young and wife; Barbara Pruitt Young of Southlake, TX and Joshua Young and wife; Charlotte Bartush Young of Richmond, VA, and great grandchildren; Brooke, James, Logan, Clark, and Harrison.
A graveside memorial service will be held in Flynn Cemetery on Saturday, July 12, 2025 (which would have been his 101st birthday) at 11:00 am with Rev. Mark Hicks officiating.
McKenzie Mortuary, 112 Jefferson Street, Whiteville, NC is serving the Young family.
