DREAM Center to Hold Golf Academy

The Columbus County DREAM Center will host a golf academy at Vineland Golf Club July 21 from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

The Bright Futures Summer Golf Academy is a one-day event that will introduce children to golf as well as reinforcing basic life skills, said Andy Anderson, who is program director for the event.

“Our goal is to do more than teach golf,” he said. “We’re shaping futures. Every swing, every putt is a lesson in patience, focus, and personal growth. Golf is the classroom, but life is a lesson.”

The academy is for beginner and intermediate youth players, ages 8-17. It will offer a unique blend of instilling meaningful values, strong character, honesty, sportsmanship, resilience, teamwork, respect, while providing hands-on golf instruction, Anderson said.

Equipment will be provided, and participants will have a hot dog lunch and drinks after the clinic. A $10 donation per child is requested to support the program. Pre-registration is encouraged as space is limited.

This one day event will serve as an introduction to the Bright Futures Golf Academy Program, which begins weekly session Monday, Sept. 8. To register your child or get more information, contact the Columbus County DREAM Center at 910.642.0633 or Coach Anderson at 910. 840.1501.
