The suspects hit unoccupied homes and storage buildings before setting their sights on a warehouse used by the town of Chadbourn Monday. Around midnight, Elliott said, thieves broke into the structure and took $20,000 to $25,000 worth of town property.
“Our officers had enough information to obtain warrants and searched the home of the person suspected of fencing the stolen goods,” Elliott said.
When they executed the search warrant on Flowers’ home, officers found property from at least six open theft cases in the Chadbourn area, Elliot said. The stolen goods are worth in excess of $10,000. Officers worked all night securing the scene and cataloging the property.
The thieves were hitting unoccupied homes, storage buildings and other structures, Elliott said.
He praised his officers for their work on investigating the case as well as securing the evidence.
“It’s a testimony to our police force how hard they all worked on this,” he said. “It speaks volumes for our officers when you look at the time and work they put into these cases.”
More charges are possible, Elliott said, and the investigation is continuing.
