Flood warnings have been issued for the Cape Fear and Lumber Rivers due to the runoff from as much as 11 inches of rain across Central North Carolina with Tropical Storm Chantal. Water is encroaching on roadways in eastern Bladen and Columbus counties.
A Columbus County deputy is recovering after is patrol vehicle crashed on Chadbourn Highway Thursday. The Highway Patrol is investigating.
A farmworker was critically injured in a silo accident near Chadbourn Thursday, The worker was transported to an area trauma center after being trapped in the grain bin.
