Detectives have charged a woman with abusing her infant son.
Katelyn Regina Hinson, 21, of 569 Beaver Dam Rd., Clarendon, was released on a $1,500 unsecured bond, according to Detention Center reports. She was charged with a single count of felony negligent child abuse, resulting in serious bodily injuries.
The sheriff’s office reported that detectives and deputies were called to Columbus Regional Monday after a call about suspected child abuse. Medical personnel contacted law enforcement when they found injuries consistent with the child being injured.
The warrant showed that the infant had “multiple contusions about the head, neck, arms, legs and back,” and that the boy was suffering from paraphimosis, a urological condition affecting the genitals.
The child was placed in emergency custody of relatives, and later transferred to another medical facility. Hinson was arrested at the hospital and taken before a magistrate.
