The mother accused of abusing her infant son saw her bond raised to $40,000 Tuesday.
Katelyn Regina Hinson, 21, of 569 Beaver Dam Rd., Clarendon, was originally released on a $1,500 unsecured bond, according to Detention Center reports. She was charged with a single count of felony negligent child abuse, resulting in serious bodily injuries. A judge raised her bond in Columbus County District Court Tuesday.
The sheriff’s office reported that detectives and deputies were called to Columbus Regional Monday after a call about suspected child abuse. Medical personnel contacted law enforcement when they found injuries consistent with the child being injured.
The warrant showed that the infant had “multiple contusions about the head, neck, arms, legs and back,” and that the boy was suffering from paraphimosis, a urological condition affecting the genitals.
The child was placed in emergency custody of relatives, and later transferred to another medical facility for specialized care.
