The Annie Catherine Pridgen Community Development Foundation (ACP), teaming up with the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, delivered over 6,600 pounds of food to Columbus County households during its Aug. 16 distribution.

The event served 165 households, reaching 415 individuals, including 115 children and 128 seniors.

The distribution was hosted at Jerusalem Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Chadbourn. The Food Bank credited Pastor Eric McCullum and his congregation for providing “the volunteer power that makes ACP’s monthly food distributions possible.

“Their commitment and service are the backbone of these efforts, ensuring families are served with dignity and care,” the Food Bank said in a press release.

ACP also extends gratitude to AmeriCorps volunteers and to Los Amigas, whose support and energy strengthened the team and helped make this month’s distribution a success.

“Every distribution is about more than groceries — it’s about dignity, hope, and community,” said Delphia McCoy, Executive Director of ACP. “When neighbors, churches, and volunteers unite, we’re able to reach children, seniors, and families who need us most.”

ACP’s work reflects its broader mission to empower underserved communities with essential resources to enhance quality of life through education, economic development, and community support. Alongside food distributions, ACP is developing long-term solutions such as community gardens and training programs that help families build sustainable futures.

The next food distribution at Jerusalem is set for Sept. 20. There are no ID or residency restrictions. Please bring your own bags and boxes whenever possible.
