Woman Charged Hit and Run, with Assaulting Officer

Chadbourn Police have charged a woman with assaulting an officer and three counts of hit and run, resulting in serious injuries.

Candy Herring Lee, 47, also known as Candy Lee, was held under $110,000 secured bond in the Wednesday incident, according to detention center reports. She was charged with three counts each of felony hit and run resulting in serious injury, hit and run resulting property damage, assaulting an officer, assault inflicting serious injury, and driving while impaired. Her address was listed as 59 Stack Turner Road, Chadbourn.

Warrants show that Lee left the scene of a collision on North Elm Street that resulted in injuries to Ryan Troy and James Powell. She also damaged a vehicle belonging to Deandre Powell, the warrants said.

When Lee was being detained by a Chadbourn Police Officer, she refused to stand when directed by the officer, and warrants show that she began kicking him in the groin.
