Deputies have charged a Bladen County woman with choking her stepson and throwing him against a wall.
Crystal Ann Roberts, 40, of 13652 N.C. 87 Hwy., Tar Heel, was held under $500,000 secured bond in the Bladen Detention Center, charged with one count each of misdemeanor and felony child abuse, according to warrants and a press release from the Bladen Sheriff’s Office.
Roberts is alleged to have choked the eight year old, leaving him with bruises, and thrown him into a wall in the family home.
Detectives were called to investigate a case of possible child abuse, according to the release and court records, and initially charged Roberts with a misdemeanor. Additional evidence led to the felony charge. Detectives received assistance from Carolyn’s Kaleidoscope Child Advocacy Center.
The investigation is ongoing, the BCSO said.
