
The Wolfpack soccer squad took a pair of matches from their county rivals this week. On Tuesday, Price Wheatley scored two goals to put the Pack past West Columbus 4-0. Wesley Hill and Paxton Bass also scored a goal each for Whiteville. West Columbus fell to 0-8 on the year.
On Wednesday, Price Wheatley scored all four goals as Whiteville downed South Coumbus 4-1 in Tabor City. Whiteville is now 1-2 in the Southeastern Conference and 4-10-2 on the season. They will go to South Brunswick on Oct. 8. The Stallions (0-3, 1-11) host Red Springs (2-1, 7-6) on Tuesday.
Thursday, Union crushed West Columbus in soccer 9-0. Rico Esparza led the Spartans (4-2, 9-5) with three goals. Union will go to North Duplin (2-3-2, 2-4-2) on Monday. West Columbus is now 0-7 in the Carolina Conference and 0-8 for the year. The Vikings will go to Lakewood (4-2-1, 4-9-1) Tuesday.
North Duplin and East Columbus played to a 1-1 tie Wednesday in the Swamp. Emanuel Mendez scored the only goal for the Rebels (2-3-2, 2-4-2). North Duplin will host Union (4-2, 9-5) on Monday.
On Thursday, East Bladen got the better of the Gators with a 3-1 victory in Elizabethtown. Jayce Hatcher scored a pair of goals and Ishaq Algozy knocked in another for the Eagles, now 4-1-1 in the Carolina Conference and 7-4-3 overall. They will go to Hobbton (4-1-1, 5-7-1) Monday in a key conference matchup. East Columbus (2-4-1, 4-6-1) will host county rival West Columbus (0-7, 0-8) on Tuesday.
