
Voter registration ends tomorrow (Oct. 10) for the November municipal elections.
Early voting begins Oct. 16, and anyone who wishes to vote but has not registered may cast a provisional ballot during the early voting period, but not on Election Day. Provisional ballots are counted after the voting information has been confirmed. Early polls close Nov. 1 for the Nov. 4 election. Voter ID is required for all persons casting a ballot, unless they fill out an exception form.
The November elections are only for residents of municipalities. Most towns in the county have race this year.
In Boardman, Eric Cleveland Williamson is unopposed for mayor. William Donald Britt, Kelly Tevis Britt, Crystal Gale Rogers, James Earl Smith and Minnie Turbeville are running for town council.
Bolton Mayor Shawn Maynor is also unopposed. Daniel Lee Brown, Barbara Graham, Gary Jerome Graham, and Kelvin Gerald Thurman Sr. are running for alderman.
The commissioners for the town of Brunswick elect their own mayor from sitting members of the board. Tammy Clark Blackmon, Curtis Hill, Ricky Lee Mason and Alnzon McArther are on the ballot in Brunswick.
Cerro Gordo Mayor David White is unopposed. Tracey Blackwell, Jeffrey Talmadge Greene, Lisa Blackwell McKee, and Debra Prince are running for town council.
Chadbourn has four candidates on the town council ticket: Shannon Britt, Avala “Pepper” Nealy, Rashad Roberts and Drew Worley.
Fair Bluff Mayor Billy Hammond is unopposed. On the board of town commissioners, Bradley Cutrell, Clarice Vereen Faison, Grayson Jarvis and John w. Phillips are running for election.
Lake Waccamaw is seeing one of the most hotly contested ballots in years. Incumbent Mayor Matt Wilson is being challenged by Chad Smith and Greg Jacobs. Lynn Hinnant and Scott Hyatt are vying for the East Ward commissioner’s seat. Incumbent Frank Carroll faces challenges from Curtis Andrews and Charlyne Jacobs.
Leonard “Pappy” Hall is the only candidate on the ballot for Sandyfield Town Council.
In Tabor City, Bryan Culberson, Chris Fowler, Lamont Grate and Mitchell Strickland are running for town council seats.
Whiteville also has a full slate for mayoral and council seats. Incumbent Terry Mann is being challenged by Brandon Acker, Brittany Payne and Mike Shachnuk. Current councilwomen Helen Holden and Vickie Pait face a challenge from Linda Smith. Tim Collier is unopposed for his District 2 reelection run.
