Jerry Ray Harrell

In Loving Memory of Jerry Ray Harrell

September 19, 1951 – October 30, 2025

The world grew a little quieter when Jerry Ray Harrell, 74, of Hallsboro, North Carolina, left us on October 30, 2025. Born and raised in Lake Waccamaw, Jerry was a proud part of The Boys and Girls Home community that shaped much of his life and heart.

Jerry is survived by his brother, Rex Harrell; sisters, Betty Fox and Faye; and his beloved daughters, Renee Harrell (Dan) of Hallsboro, Anita Harrell (Christa) of Wilmington, Rebecca Harrell, and Candace Phillips (Nicholas) of Delco. His love carried through generations to his grandchildren—Brittany Harmon (Dustin) of Lake Waccamaw, Chelsea Jones of Wilmington, and Canyon Jones of Tabor City—and his great-grandchildren, Isobel, Olivia, Lucas, and Emilia Harmon.

A self-made man, Jerry built more than just homes—he built a life filled with hard work, laughter, and love. As a skilled carpenter, he could fix just about anything, but his greatest works were the lives he touched. He loved fishing almost more than life itself, never turned down a chance to be outdoors, and found peace in the stillness of the woods or the ripple of a quiet lake.

Jerry’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. A dedicated and faithful servant to Jesus Christ, he lived out his beliefs through compassion, humility, and service to others. His kindness and generosity reflected the heart of his Savior in all that he did.

He gave freely of his time, helping neighbors and elderly friends without ever expecting anything in return. His children and grandchildren will remember his easy smile, his stories, his generosity, and the way he always found beauty in simple things.

In honor of Jerry’s wishes, no formal services will be held. Those who wish to honor his life may make donations to The Boys and Girls Home of North Carolina, Lake Waccamaw, NC—a place close to his heart.

Though his fishing pole now rests, his spirit has gone home to the Lord he served so faithfully. His love will continue to ripple through the waters and woods he cherished, and through every life he touched.
