Here’s today’s Bottom Line
Quiet and seasonable weather across the area for today before we experience a big-time warm-up through the weekend.
Surface high pressure will move overhead today and after a chilly start our temps will climb to the upper 60s with bright sunshine. Those temps are right where we should be this time of year.
The high pressure begins to shift east and south tonight with an increasing southwesterly wind flow setting up for the weekend. Lows early Saturday will drop to the lower 40s but temps jump deep into the 70s on Saturday. With the center of the high sprawled south of the area, winds will be southwesterly and becoming rather gusty on Sunday. A cold front will be approaching from the northwest later Sunday afternoon, but our temps should flirt with the 80-degree mark as the sun fades behind some cloudiness.
The front clears the area late Sunday night and we’ll have relatively… “cooler” weather (temps still above normal) for early next week. Originally I thought the front might linger along the coast but rain chances remain nearly zero Tuesday and Wednesday.
Columbus County is in a D0 drought (“abnormally dry”) while much of Bladen county is in the D1 classification. These drought conditions will steadily worsen as rain chances remain nearly zero through the entire forecast period. Please use a little prudence if doing any burning.
TROPICS: No concerns.
