SCHS Girls Rout WCHS

CERRO GORDO – The South Columbus girls basketball team had three ladies reach double figures in a 62-33 rout of West Columbus Monday night.

West Columbus (0-2) jumped out to a seven-point lead to start the first quarter to lead 12-5 and trailed by only one point at the half. South Columbus (1-1) woke up the offense and applied more defensive pressure to pull away in the second half, outscoring the Vikings 40-12 the rest of the game.

Trinity Strickland led the Stallions with 21 points while DeAisa Johnson contributed 18 points and Makayla Moore added 12 points. Iyana Lowery led the Vikings with 19 points in the loss. Both teams will do a rematch of county rivals Dec. 5 at Vinegar Hill.

ELIZABETHTOWN—East Bladen girls saw nine players score in a 63-16 demolition of Pender Monday night.

The Eagles built an enormous lead resulting in an early continuous clock for the remainder of the game, leading 42-5 by halftime. Sana’a Singletary led East Bladen with 12 points. T.T. Richardson and Aaiiyah Monroe added 10 points each in the victory. The Eagles turned around on Tuesday and defeated Heide Trask 44-37. No details are available at this moment. East Bladen is now 3-0 on the young season. They will host North Brunswick (0-4) on Dec. 2.

Hoggard Knocks WBHS

WILMINGTON—Hunter McGrath knocked down three 3-pointers on his way to 27 points as Hoggard blasted West Bladen 81-48 in boys basketball Tuesday night.

Will Seward contributed 26 points on the night as well, with the Vikings taking control of the game early leading 28-6 at the end if the first quarter. The Knights were never in it. Jackson Pait led West Bladen with 26 points in the loss. West Bladen will host East Columbus (0-2) Dec. 2.
