Lake Waccamaw Fire and Rescue will no longer be providing non-emergency medical transportation, and may soon cut its EMS department.
Commissioners made the decision Tuesday after a closed session called for a “contractual issue”. A discussion of the EMS and medical transport service and the closed session were listed on the agenda as voting items.
Immediately after the closed session, the board voted to suspend non-emergency transport within 30 days, and to discuss the future of the EMS at a future meeting.
We’ll have more later on this developing story.
