Here’s today’s Bottom Line:

Welcome to March, coming in like a lamb this year, with sunny skies and much-above-normal temperatures for today. It’s really going to be a gorgeous day, so get outside and enjoy it.

A cold front will drop over the area tonight, and a high pressure wedge with northeast winds off the Atlantic will bring lots of clouds and much colder temps for your Monday. While we’ll be in the upper 70s today, tomorrow we’ll be in the lower 50s.

Modeling wants to break the wedge down pretty quickly for Tuesday but I don’t think that’ll be the case. Perhaps I’m wrong, but these HP wedges tends to take a little longer to break.

But break it definitely will by Wednesday as the high shifts southeastward and takes up residence near Bermuda. This then becomes a Bermuda high pressure ridge (a phrase we haven’t used in quite some time) will allow a southerly to southwesterly flow of unseasonably warm and humid air to infiltrate the area from Wednesday through next weekend (at least).

A rather summer-like pattern will become established Thursday and Friday with a mix of clouds and sunshine, and a chance for afternoon thunderstorms on the sea-breeze boundary. This pattern is likely to continue into the weekend as well.

This will undoubtedly get the allergy season going in full swing, so get ready for the stuffy nose and sneezing. Resist the temptation to do early planting as I still think we’ll see at least one more “colder” snap before spring arrives for real. But for now, if you like the warm and humid conditions, you’re going to love the 2nd half of the coming week.
