BEMC, ECE Award Lineman Scholarship

Brunswick Electric Membership Corporation (BEMC) and ECE are investing in the future of the local energy workforce through a $5,000 donation to regional community college lineworker programs.

The contribution provides scholarship funding for students at both Brunswick Community College (BCC) and Southeastern Community College (SCC) as they train for careers in the electric utility industry.

The contribution was split equally to support students in two of the region’s premier technical training programs: $2,500 to BCC and $2,500 to SCC. These funds are specifically designated for scholarships to help students offset the costs of tuition, gear, and training required to enter the electrical utility industry.

As the demand for skilled infrastructure professionals continues to rise, this partnership aims to remove financial barriers for students pursuing these essential, high-impact careers.

“BEMC and ECE share a mission to empower the communities we serve. Our goal is to make a lasting impact that goes well beyond providing electrical service,” said Josh Winslow, CEO of BEMC. “We are honored to partner in supporting these hardworking students at BCC and SCC as they train for rewarding, high-demand careers that are critical to our region’s infrastructure.”

The electrical lineworker programs at BCC and SCC provide hands-on training, preparing students to safely maintain the power lines that serve as the backbone of North Carolina’s electric grid.
