Here’s today’s Bottom Line:

Bright blue sunny skies across the area today…. but our temperatures are going to run 25 to 30 degrees colder than yesterday. We touched 90 on my weather station in uptown Whiteville yesterday… today we’ll be lucky to touch 60.

It’s going to be cold tonight as we dip into the upper 30. We’re going to be precariously close to the magic number of “37,” which is usually the highest temperature that frost can form at the ground surface. I think there’ll be enough surface wind and scattered clouds so that any frost formation is very light and isolated in nature.

We’ll warm up to around 70 on Wednesday with more full sunshine… and then up another 10 degrees on Thursday… and then up even more on Friday. Temps should peak in the mid to upper 80s Friday afternoon before our next front arrives.

There probably won’t be much fanfare with the next frontal passage… a few showers possible Friday night, maybe a rumble of thunder… but another short but significant cold snap after the front.

Saturday will be sunny but temps will run about 10 degrees below normal… highs in the upper 50s.

There is a more significant threat for FROST on Saturday night/early Sunday as our temps drop to the middle and upper 30s. I’ll be watching that potential closely. The cold snap will be short-lived.
