EAST COLUMBUS 9, LAKEWOOD 5

SALEMBURG—East Columbus drove in five runs in the sixth inning to defeat Lakewood in baseball on Thursday night.

The win sets up an important showdown at Hobbton (9-1, 15-3) on April 28. The Gators are now 8-2 in the Carolina Conference and 13-5 on the year. Caleb Neal had three hits in the loss for Lakewood (3-7, 6-13). The Leopards will travel to James Kenan (6-7) today (April 24)

HOBBTON 12, WEST COLUMBUS 1

CERRO GORDO—Nathan Neal pitched a complete game in leading Hobbton past West Columbus 12-1 in baseball Thursday night.

Neal gave up one run, four hits, and struck out four in the outing. Ayden Lawson had three hits and an RBI for Lakewood. Hobbton (9-1, 15-3) will host East Columbus (8-2, 13-5) in a key Carolina Conference match-up on April 28. West Columbus (4-7, 7-13) will travel to North Duplin (6-4, 7-6) on April 28.

EAST BLADEN 31, UNION 0

ROSE HILL—Braylon Cromartie went three for five, scoring four runs, and driving in four runs to lead East Bladen in a rout over winless Union 31-0 Thursday night. Union failed to get a hit on the night. The Eagles (6-4, 9-10) will host Lakewood (3-7, 6-13) on April 28. Union (0-11, 0-22) will host Hobbton (9-1, 15-3) on April 30.

WHITEVILLE 15, WEST COLUMBUS 1 (Softball)

CERRO GORDO—Whiteville won its second game of the week as they defeated West Columbus 15-1 in softball on Thursday night.

The Pack started the season 0-11. With the win, the Pack (2-12) will host county rival South Columbus (4-3, 6-10) on Tuesday night for Senior Night. West Columbus (4-5, 4-10) will host North Duplin (7-1, 11-1) on Tuesday.

EAST BLADEN 17, UNION 6 (Softball)

ROSE HILL—Niyah Wooten hit a home run, a triple, scored four runs, and knocked in two RBI’s to lead East Bladen past Union 17-6 in softball on Thursday night.

East Bladen (5-3, 7-11) will host Lakewood (2-6, 4-12) on Tuesday. Union ends its regular season with  0-10 in the Carolina Conference and 4-12 with the loss.
