GASTON—West Columbus Girls’ softball team entered the playoffs for the first time since 2013 and brought home its first ever post-season playoffs victory defeating Northampton County 29-1 in the 2A playoffs on Tuesday.
First year head coach Timmy Jones led the Vikings to their historic victory. The Vikings season will continue on May 8 when the Vikings will face Carolina Conference opponent North Duplin (9-1, 13-1) in Calypso.

LAKE WACCAMAW—East Columbus (19-5) crushed North Edgecombe 26-0 in the first round of the 1A softball playoffs on Tuesday. The #3 seed Gators will host #6 seed North East Carolina Prep (15-7) on Friday.

TABOR CITY—South Columbus beat Beddingfield 15-0 in the 3A Softball playoffs on Tuesday. The Stallions are now 10-11 on the year. The #13 seed Stallions will travel to # 4 Heide Trask (13-4) on Friday in the second round of the 3A NCHSAA playoffs.

ELIZABETHTOWN–Jenna Brice threw a no-hitter in the first round of the 2A playoffs as the Eagles defeated Union 15-0. Niyah Wooten led the bats with a hit and three RBI’s in the victory for East Bladen, who move to 9-12 on the season. The Eagles, the #13 seed in the 2A playoffs, will go to East Carteret (14-5) on Friday in the second round.

DUBLIN—Abigail Dew had two hits and a run scored but it wasn’t enough for the Knights as Greene Central (11-11) beat West Bladen 5-3 in the first round of the 3A softball playoffs on Tuesday. West Bladen, the number 16 seed for the playoff tournament, completes their season at 9-12. West Bladen struggled at the end of the season, losing five in a row. Greene Central will go to number one seed Midway (19-1) on Friday.
