Here’s today’s Bottom Line
The thunderstorms that some of us experienced yesterday were with the “cold” front that dropped through the area. We’ll notice the difference today as our temps should stay in the 80s with low humidity values — it’s going to be a nice day. Use that sunscreen, though, if you are planning outdoor activities.
We’ll be warmer tomorrow, back into the lower 90s (seasonal normal values) with more sunshine. The humidity will be a bit higher, so heat index values will be around 100.
Then … the broilers get turned on for Friday through the weekend and into at least early next week. High pressure will ridge in from the Atlantic over the deep south. Temps will be around the 100-degree mark over the weekend with heat index values cruising into advisory criteria (105-109), possibly into “extreme heat warning” criteria of 110 or higher. Long range modeling suggests this brutal heat is going to stick around a while.
Tropics remain quiet at this time.
