Deputies responding to a welfare check early today (June 24) found a man who had been seriously injured by the driver of an automobile.
Joshua Allyn Priest, 38, was transported to New Hanover Regional by AirLink, according to the sheriff’s office. Priest was found at Pleasant Plains Baptist Church around 1:47 a.m.
The victim told deputies he was intentionally struck by the driver of a vehicle and robbed of a Ruger handgun valued at $1,100. The report said Priest had multiple injuries, including a broken femur. Due to the severity of the injuries, Nakina Rescue requested Priest be airlifted to a trauma center.
Nakina Rescue, Tabor City Rescue’s QRV and Brunswick Fire Department responded to the call.
The sheriff’s office is investigating.
