Local Baseball Players Continue to Shine During Summer

Even though the high school baseball season has come to an end, several high school standouts are still playing in all-star games and receiving awards.

Three players from Whiteville’s State Championship team recently played in the BodyArmor State Games. Grayson Canady, Jayden Todd, and Collin Hook were a part of the District 4 team that lost in the Bronze Medal game 15-0 to District 6.

South Columbus had several players receive honors. Nathan Edwards, Walker Smith, Briar Johnson, and Easton McPherson were named to the 2026 N.C. Baseball Coaches Association All-Region 4 Team.

The quartet helped South Columbus reach the second round of the 3A playoffs.
