Donavan Worley has been tagged as the new basketball coach at East Columbus.
Worley, a 2019 graduate from East Columbus, recently served as Athletic Director at Tar Heel Middle School. Before his AD job, Worley was the head JV basketball coach at Whiteville High School where he led the Wolfpack to a 36-4 record and two conference championships during the 2023-2024 seasons.
His senior year at East Columbus, Worley averaged 16 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. He will inherit a squad that won the 1A Carolina Conference title this past season.
Worley is looking forward to coming home.
“The mission is bigger than basketball,” he said. “It’s about giving to the school that gave me so much. I’m honored to be named the Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at my alma mater. I’m ready to build something special. It’s time to go to work.”
