Here’s today’s Bottom Line
A slow-moving … and I sure do mean SLOW moving cold front will push through the area today and stall along the coast through late Saturday. This will bring rainfall that will put a big dent in the drought (though not busting it altogether).
Waves of showers and thunderstorms are likely from later this afternoon through Saturday evening. It won’t be raining everywhere all the time but there is the potential for training thunderstorms and flash flooding.
I’ve said this a couple of times now: No matter how good your drainage system is, if we get 1-2 inches of rain over a 45-60 minute timeframe in Whiteville … there will be flooding.
The model blends are suggesting 2-3 inches of rain across the county. The amounts will be somewhat variable; some areas might not get much at all, while others may double that amount.
The front will dissipate as we go through Sunday marking a dramatic return to heat advisory weather into next week.
TROPICS: Bertha is still a thing, for another 5 minutes or so… moving quickly along the Gulf coast and into Texas.
