Chadbourn and Whiteville Police will be hosting events for National Night Out tomorrow (Tuesday).
National Night Out is designed to allow citizens to get to know their local law enforcement officers, as well as find out more about opportunities for families. While primarily aimed at children, everyone is welcome.
Whiteville Police will hold their event at City Hall at Madison and Columbus streets. Visitors can enjoy food trucks, giveaways, games, music and more. There will also be vendors and informational booths.
Chadbourn Police will have a free bounce house, “touch a truck” with the fire department and other town services, face painting, and free food. The festivities will be at 602 N. Brown St., Chadbourn.
“Too often, the only contact some people have with law enforcement is after a 911 call,” Chadbourn Police Chief Ken Elliot said. “This is an opportunity for everyone to meet their officers and have some fun and fellowship together. The goal is to improve the bond with the citizens we serve.”
Both National Night Out gatherings will be from 6-8 p.m., and admission is free.
