WHITEVILLE—The Wolfpack Girls volleyball team lost to a strong North Brunswick team 3-1 on Monday.
The Scorpions took the first two games 25-13 and 25-11. The Pack rallied to take game three 25-22 but fell in the fourth game 25-14 for the loss in the match.
Early season mistakes were prevalent for both teams as the sets were off course and the timing was suspect in the serves.
In the first game, the Scorpions jumped on the Wolfpack 15-9 and expanded it to 25-13 for the win. The second game wasn’t much better for Whiteville as North Brunswick crushed the Pack 25-11.
Whiteville regrouped in the third game as the Wolfpack rolled on the Scorpions 6-0 to begin the game. North Brunswick rallied to cut the lead to 6-4 but the Pack added points to pushed the lead to 10-4 and held the lead throughout the game to win 25-22.
North Brunswick showed its resolve by focusing on Game 4. They proceeded to take an 8-5 lead and pushed it to 18-7 before Whiteville could blink. North Brunswick cruised to a 25-14 win to take the match 3-1.
In the JV contest, North Brunswick won 2-1.
The Pack (0-1) will try to regroup on Tuesday as they travel to East Bladen (1-0). North Brunswick (1-0) will travel to South Brunswick (0-1) on Thursday.
