Here’s today’s Bottom Line

Yesterday was the 14th day this summer (since June 1st) that we’ve been at or above 100 in Whiteville.

And today will likely be day number 15.  Extreme heat warning in place.

Very limited thunderstorm potential late this afternoon through this evening, Wednesday afternoon and evening, and Thursday afternoon and evening.

A deep upper trough is expected to develop over the eastern US Friday into the weekend, with several “waves” moving around the base of the trough. At the surface, a front moves into the
area Friday into Saturday before slowing down, with several ripples of low pressure developing along the front. This will result in a much higher potential for showers and thunderstorms Friday through the weekend.

Tropics: Silent right now. Shear and dry air have vaporized the two systems I had been watching.
