In Burgaw, West Bladen suffered their first loss of the season as the Knights fell to Pender 5-3 in soccer on Wednesday. The Knights are now 7-1-1 on the year.
Diego Santo led West Bladen with a goal and an assist. Andrew Martinez and Alejandro Lopez also scored goals in the loss for the Knights. West Bladen will travel to Lumberton (1-4-1) on Sept. 16. Pender (4-3) will travel to Wallace Rose Hill (6-4) on Sept. 10 (today).
Whiteville won two matches this week. On Tuesday, the Pack defeated Seventy-First 3-2 in Whiteville. Kijon Figaro and Kilon Bastidas each scored for Seventy-First in the loss. On Wednesday, Whiteville downed East Columbus 1-0 in the Swamp.
Whiteville is now 3-4-3 on the year. East Columbus falls to 2-2-1. The Pack will face Scotland County (4-4-2) in Laurinburg on Sept. 14. East Columbus will host West Columbus (1-4) the same day.
On Wednesday, East Bladen fell to Hobbton 5-1 at Newton Grove. The Eagles fell to 0-1 in the Carolina Conference and 3-4-1 on the season. Hobbton moves to 1-1 in the conference and 5-4 on the year.
East Bladen will host North Duplin (1-1, 1-2-1) on Monday, when Hobbton hosts Clinton (5-1-1).
In Salemburg, Lakewood (2-0, 6-2) downed West Columbus 2-0 on Wednesday in soccer. The Leopards will host Neuse Charter (2-6) today. The Vikings (0-2, 1-4) will host South Columbus (0-11) today.
