Here’s today’s Bottom Line
Modeling is in good agreement about a deep trough pushing over the mid-Atlantic, driving a cold front through the area. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon with this frontal boundary. Isolated pockets of heavy rain are possible later this afternoon, but the environment is not favorable for severe weather.
A low pressure center then forms along the front offshore by Wednesday. This low will combine with strong high pressure over northern New England and force north-northeast winds down the coast. This will result in a very early season cold-air damming scenario for Wednesday and Thursday, with mostly cloudy skies and some scattered showers.
The Nor’Easter continues to move north and away from our area. Dry air will funnel in from the northwest which will bring an absolutely gorgeous weekend to the area. Nearly unlimited sunshine with highs in the 70s, lows in the lower to middle 50s ….. perfection!
TROPICS: Tropical Storm Fay will continue to weaken and dissolve into a remnant low over the next 24-36 hours.
A tropical wave is forecast to move off western Africa by Wednesday. Environmental conditions may become marginally conducive for slow development while it moves generally north-northwestward near the Cabo Verde Islands later this week.
