Here’s today’s Bottom Line
High pressure will keep our weather high-and-dry through Friday. Get out and enjoy it!
Attention then turns to Tropical Storm Isaias. This will become the first Atlantic-basin hurricane of the season… probably strengthening to at least category-2 before making landfall between New Orleans and Pensacola.
The storm is then expected to lift north through central Tennessee. The storm path, coupled with high pressure over New England, will draw an atmospheric river of moisture over the Carolinas Saturday night through early Monday.
There is the potential for significant, soaking rainfall for the region, with the early blends projecting 2-4 inches of rain. There’s still going to be some uncertainty as to who gets what, but right now it looks like Sunday will be a very rainy day indeed.
I don’t anticipate any convective elements with this, and I expect winds to be fairly light. Just a moderate-intensity stratiform rain.
