Early Voting Slows But Stays Busy

Early polls slowed slightly on Tuesday, but voters continued to turn out and cast ballots.

Monday’s numbers had 925 ballots cast at all polling places.
Statewide midterm numbers have far outpaced previous elections with 670,000 ballots cast so far. Democrats have turned in approximately 45 percent of early votes, according ton the State Board of Elections, with Republicans at 21 percent as of Monday, down somewhat from previous midterms. Republicans historically have been more prone to vote on Election Day. Unaffiliated voters are also turning out early, casting 34 percent of the ballots statewide as of Monday.
Any registered voter may cast a ballot at any early poll. In Election Day, voters must go to their home precincts. Voter ID is required this year. Anyone without an acceptable ID can get a free card from the Board of Elections office, or fill out a provisional ballot at the polls.
